Amateur Nails

I took four colors that only look good over dark colors and dabbed them on with Saran Wrap. I started with one coat of Ebony Hates Chris by Wet N Wild. The colors I dabbed on are as follows: Sky Dive by Maybelline, a blue shimmer; Mist You by Sally Hansen, a lilac shimmer; Bali Mist by Sinful Colors, a pink shimmer; and Make Me Holo by Essence, a blue shimmer.

More glitter! This is two coats of Showgirl Chic by Sally Hansen. It is a mostly silver glitter with bigger blue hex glitter in a clear base.

Every few months a polish comes along and just shows up all other polishes. Chanel Peridot did that a few months ago. There was a lot of hype and the only drawback was the price tag. A few companies have come to the rescue in the subsequent months with their rendition. The latest addition to the dupe parade is Just Spotted the Lizard by O.P.I. I carefully used three coats of this green and gold duochrome. I can’t stop looking at my nails.

This was a difficult polish to capture. This is two coats of Loves Me Not by Sally Hansen, topped with Northern Lights Out the Door holographic top coat. Loves Me Not is a purple glass flecked polish in a blackened base.

I wanted to do something different so I did a ruffian manicure. I started with one coat of Stone Cold, a matte grey polish by China Glaze. Then I carefully put three coats of Bikini, a bright pink shimmer polish by Sinful Colors. The point of a ruffian mani is to let the bottom color show on the sides. I love the contrast between the two colors.

I went blingy today. I started with one coat of Gold Coin by Revlon. The star of this mani is two coats of Twinkle Lights by China Glaze. It is a gold glitter in a clear base with red and green glitter mixed in.

I decided to go for a bright color again. First I started with two thin coats of Irish Green by Sinful Colors. Irish Green is a neon green jelly polish. It can be difficult to work with since it can be slow to dry and you need multiple layers to get a good level of opacity. Since I wanted to keep it jelly looking I did not use a base of white like I usually do with neon colors. I then added one coat of an unnamed silver and black glitter from Blue Cross Beauty Products. It is one of the ones that comes in the pumpkin faced nail polish bottles. I then added another layer of Irish Green, a layer of glitter, and topped it with one more layer of Irish Green.

I did these nails last night. Today I check the mail and my Target Beauty Bag is inside. I laughed when I opened the package and saw that the bag enclosed was the same colors as my nails.

I started this mani by using french manicure guides to cover the tips. I painted every other nail with the color I started with, Boom Boom by Sinful Colors. Boom Boom is a deep pink crelly.  The alternating color is Big Daddy by Sinful Colors, a dupe to OPI’s A Good Mandarin is Hard To Find and this year’s Pantone Color of the Year Tangerine Tango. Big Daddy is a crelly. I used two coats of each color. On the second coat, I peeled off the guides to get as clean of a line as possible. Then I carefully painted the tips with the opposite color.

It is NBA Playoff time! My favorite team, the Dallas Mavericks, are not expected to go to the next round but a girl can dream. I love to do team color manis.

I started with two coats of Blue Year’s Eve by China Glaze. It is a deep blue glass flecked polish. On my tips I used Epic Winning by Icing. It is a great glitter polish that has blue, silver, and holographic glitter. To tie it together I used Out The Door Northern Lights top coat. It is a fast dry top coat that has very fine holographic silver glitter.

I got a belated birthday polish package from a friend. It had a variety of great polishes. I love them all.

I started with two coats of Turned Up Turquoise by China Glaze. It is a neon with a shimmer. My camera had a hard time capturing the color correctly because it is both deep and bright. Then I added one coat of Luxe and Lush by China Glaze, which is from Capitol Colours collection. It is flakie top coat that flashes orange or green depending on your base color and angle.

I am sorry that I am not posting more often. I have been leaving my polish on for longer. I also have been having fail manis that I am not taking pictures of.

On my quest to finish my untried polishes, I picked out this recent addition. I started with two coats of Grape Gumball by Fingerpaints. It is a medium purple shimmer. On my ring finger I used one coat of Eutopia by LA Girl.

Hopefully I will grab a couple more pictures of this mani.

I started with two coats of Tinsel Town by China Glaze. Tinsel Town is a silver glitter suspended in a dark jelly base that gives great coverage. Then I dabbed on two coats of Celebrate by LA Girls. This Glitter Addict polish contains red, silver and blue hex glitter, plus micro-glitter in the same colors in a clear base.

This is three coats of Blue Iguana by China Glaze. It is a medium blue glass fleck that has a purple flash. I took a lot of pictures to try and capture that purple flash but failed. On my ring finger I used one coat of Believe Me, It’s Real by Wet N Wild. It is a glitter polish in a clear base that has mostly blue glitter with bigger round purple glitter.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I had to rebuild and reformat my computer. I also didn’t grab pictures of the manis that I had in between from the frustration of having to deal with my computer.

This mani feels a little autumn-y, but I am still on my quest to get through all of my untrieds. The top of the gradient is Antique Gold by Maybelline, a deep gold shimmer. Next, I used Brushed Copper by Maybelline, a copper shimmer. Then I used Metallic Mango by Kleancolor, a metallic UT orange. Last up in the gradient is Metallic Orange by Kleancolor, a deeper metallic orange. To help blend everything, I topped all of it with one coat of China Glaze’s White Cap, a golden shimmer in a milky base.

This has just not been my day. I took 150 pictures of this mani and this is the best one I got. Plus I keep getting bsod. :-(

I started with one coat of Hot Like Lava by Color Club, a pink foil. This was mostly to ensure I would have a completely opaque mani. Then I added one coat of Far Out Fuchsia by Maybelline, a polish with silver glitter in a fuchsia base. The star of this mani though is Fame & Fortune by Color Club. Fame & Fortune is a deep pink jelly with holographic shards. I am sure you can wear this polish alone but I wanted to have a glitter layer that peeks out if you look closely.
